All of Bali, from Seminyak.
Beach-club sunsets at Double Six, the Kecak fire dance on the Uluwatu cliffs, the island crossing to Nusa Penida and the long day up to Ubud’s waterfalls. What each one is really like, what it costs, and where to book.
Seven tours worth clearing a day for.
First trip or fifth, these carry a Bali week: the island-hop across to Nusa Penida, a sunrise on Batur’s rim, the swing out over the rice terraces your feed already knows by heart.

One day in Ubud makes the whole trip.
Leave the coast early: Tegallalang’s stepped rice terraces at first light, a jungle waterfall you climb down to, the monkey forest at midday, then a soak in the hill hot springs before the drive home. It is the day people build a Bali week around.
Which sunset is yours?
Bali does golden hour better than anywhere, and the right one depends on your evening. Three ways to end the day: pick the one that sounds like you, and every option behind it is already reviewed and priced.
Cliff + fire dance
The Uluwatu sunset
from $65 · 597 reviews
The clifftop temple two hundred feet above the surf, the Kecak chant building as the sun drops into the Indian Ocean, then grilled seafood on the sand at Jimbaran. The most dramatic light on the island, and the one that needs an early seat.

Temple on the sea
The Tanah Lot sunset
from $67 · 273 reviews
The old sea temple sits on its own rock offshore, and at low tide you can walk out to the base of it. Come an hour early, claim a spot on the terraces, and watch the whole sky go copper behind the shrine. Bali’s postcard, in person.

Sand + cocktails
The beach-club sunset
from $82 · 1,173 reviews
Stay in Seminyak for this one: a daybed on the Double Six sand, a cocktail in hand, feet still warm from the beach as the sun goes down over the break. Or take it offshore on a sunset cruise out of Benoa. The easy, no-drive option.
See the beach clubs →

The island doesn’t clock off at sunset.
A dinner cruise slips out of Benoa as the lights come up. Grills fire along the Jimbaran sand. A drag show packs out a Canggu room and cocktails run long past midnight. The evening is a whole second day here.
The best days are offshore.
Bali runs on its coastline. A fast boat to Nusa Penida for the Kelingking cliff, a drift-snorkel over the reef at Blue Lagoon, a manta line off the south point. These are the crossings worth the early alarm.
Rafting, quads and volcano rims.
The interior is where the adrenaline lives: the Ayung gorge on a raft, a mud-splattered ATV run past a jungle waterfall, and the pre-dawn scramble to watch the sun clear Mount Batur’s crater. Bring a change of clothes.

Bali’s other pace.
Between the big days out, the island wants you to stop. A two-hour flower-bath spa a few streets back from the beach, a sunrise yoga class, a sound-healing session, an afternoon in the hill hot springs. This is the half of Bali the highlight reels skip.
Pick your corner of Bali.
The island splits into pockets, and each one is a different day. Seminyak for the beach clubs and the shopping. Canggu for the surf. Uluwatu for the cliffs. Ubud for everything green.
Know what you’re after?
Twelve ways into the same island. Pick the one that sounds like your kind of day, and every option behind it is already reviewed and priced.
Gone by sunrise, back for a cocktail.
Bali is smaller than it looks. The volcano, the island beaches, the east-coast temples and the highland lakes are all a day-return from Seminyak, with driver, lunch and the seat home usually part of the deal.
Three days, done right.
You can’t see all of Bali from one base; you can absolutely do the right three days from Seminyak. This is the sequence to hand a friend landing at Denpasar tomorrow.
Day 1
Ease into Seminyak
Sleep off the flight, then a flower-bath spa, an afternoon on a Double Six daybed, and sunset drinks with dinner along Eat Street. Jet lag, handled the pleasant way.

Day 2
Up to the interior
Early start for Ubud: the Tegallalang rice terraces, a jungle waterfall, the monkey forest, and a soak in the hot springs before the drive back down to the coast.
Plan day two →
Day 3
Save the best light for last
South to the Bukit: the surf breaks in the morning, the clifftop temple at Uluwatu by late afternoon, the Kecak fire dance at sunset, seafood on the Jimbaran sand after.
Plan day three →
